Our meetings are open to ALL

The input from parents, administrators, faculty, paraprofessionals, and community members on the Special Education process is important to us. We are a solution orientated group and no one will be badgered. We know that successful collaborative efforts grow out of shared goals and are maintained by strong communication and positive outcomes.

Basic Rights Workshop

November 15th, 2011

 BASIC RIGHTS in Special Education Workshop

The Basic Rights workshop provides families with an introduction to their rights and responsibilities under:

  • Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA)
  • Massachusetts Special Education Law and
  • No Child Left Behind (NCLB)

This workshop is designed to help parents learn to be effective partners with their child’s school to decide their child’s eligibility for special education, and to plan, make decisions and monitor their child’s progress in school.

This workshop will take place on Tuesday, November 15th, 2011 and will begin at 7:00 pm.  The workshop will be presented in the Lecture Hall (2nd floor) at the BR-High School located at 415 Center St, Bridgewater, MA.  This workshop is FREE and open to ALL. A presenter from the Federation for Children with Special Needs will conduct this workshop.

 An IEP For My Child

The IEP For My Child workshop provides families with an introduction to their rights and responsibilities under:

  1. IEP and the General Curriculum
  2. Filling out each section of the IEP
  3. Accountability for progress
  4. Progress reporting

This workshop is designed to help parents learn to be effective partners with their child’s school in the IEP Process.  This includes the planning and monitoring of goals contained within the IEP.

This workshop will take place on Tuesday, January 17th, 2011 and will begin at 7:00 pm.  The workshop will be presented in the Lecture Hall (2nd floor) at the BR-High School located at 415 Center St, Bridgewater, MA.  This workshop is FREE and open to ALL. A presenter from the Federation for Children with Special Needs will conduct this workshop.

For Parents of Special Children

Patty and Gina will be giving a workshop at the Bridgewater-Raynham Regional High school.  This workshop will take place on Wednesday, December 7th, 2011 and will begin at 7:00 pm.  The workshop will be presented in the Lecture Hall (2nd floor) at the BR-High School located at 415 Center St, Bridgewater, MA.  This workshop is FREE and open to ALL.

 Their 90-minute workshop shows attendees how to:    

  • Leverage the healing power of laughter.
  • Connect with other imperfect parents.
  • Collaborate with schools to get your children the services they need.

Let go of the expectations and learn to love the reality of raising special children
